Hey everyone,

I am trying to take off a Ford 8.8 e-brake cable but I can't figure out how to get the cable off at the bracket. It looks like there are two pieces that come together and one has tabs on it....

Sorry if it is hard to understand it is difficult to describe. Thank you.

What vehicle are you talking about, drum/diskm the front of the brake cable or the rear?

The cable is retained by (for lack of a better word) "barbs" just use a pair of pliers to squeeze them and you should be able to slip it out or (just thought of this so it might not work:confused:) use a small hose clamp to compress them (much like you would use a piston ring compressor).......hmmm, I'll have to try that!---------Hans

Slip a box-end wrench over it to compress all the barbs at the same time, i think a 1/2in is the right size.

I use a needle nose to push one side of bars in and wedge it through, repeat for the rest.

Actually the box end works best, because it compresses all the tabs at the same time. Plus you have have not jimmied them all up with pliers and bent them, so now it is reusable.
