: Gears: No questions lifetime warranty
Nobody 10-12-2001, 11:25 AM What's up with the no questions lifetime warranty on gears? I see 4WPW is doing it as well as a few others. Seems too good to be true.
I need gears for my 44 and would like to buy from one of the local companies, but how can I say no to this?
Looking for any feedback about these gears. What kind are they?

Mine were from drivetrain wharehouse (no tax, free shipping, and I got them in 3 days!!) and were Genuine Gears. never had to use the warr. though.
Aggro 10-12-2001, 11:44 AM STOKED!!! so now I can run toy axles behind my 454 with 44"swampers and not worry about it?

That's right! Cause YOU WILL BREAK BIRFIELDS!!!!!!!!!NOT GEARS!!!!!!!BAHAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahHA aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
UGET IT 10-12-2001, 12:36 PM Genuine Gears really suck in my opinion......I have broke a set in a Toy front end. Thats great they have a warrenty but who want to go to all of the trouble to cash in on it when they break
I stick by Dan/Spicer or U.S. Ya get what ya pay for.
JEEPRZ 10-12-2001, 11:02 PM I always use dana/spicer gears when they are avail. Great fit and quality
GearMan 10-13-2001, 02:04 AM GENUINE USAMA GEARS made in india and not installed at RCD if you bring me a Genuine gear i send you home to try it yourself then that warranty thing might come in handy
The Rockslut 10-13-2001, 11:04 AM Thats how most things are these days with lifetime warranties. Its cheaper to give out a cheap product and replace it with another than to make a good product the first time. I'll stick with the good stuff.
Nobody 10-17-2001, 03:19 PM Well I thought about it and picked up a set of Dana gears.
My last gear swap I used percision gears from reider racing. Never had a single problem in 9 years of use.
How about Yukon gears? Randy's Ring and Pinion claim they are the best aftermaket gear.
What gears do you use Gearman?
badassjeepguy 10-17-2001, 03:27 PM i had a set of the life timers in a raer 44, i pulled the cover to check before a big event... they were all chipped, i called and they sent me new ones... i had to pay the shipping... imho i wouldnt do it... the only reason i tryed them is the 44 wasnt holding up for me, i had broken 2 spicers prior to that and was tired of spending $ on gears... i have since moved on to a different axle..
yeahh gearman, what do you use?
Fullreversal 10-17-2001, 07:26 PM Set up some 9" gears today that were Yukons... setup was a breeze, and they run nice and quiet
GRABBER 10-18-2001, 12:02 AM I run Genuine in the front. I can handle dealing with the inferiority of them with the life time replacement.
Now the rear, thats a different story.

what gears do you like for toys?
Josh 89XJ 10-18-2001, 08:02 PM I've got a set of Genuine that I need to install up front in my XJ. I figure that if they break I will just cash in on the replacements, sell them on JU, and get a set of Yukon or Spicer. The only reason that I bought them was because I got a killer deal and the "no question's asked" warranty sounded good to me since I am still learning to set up gears.
Pretty much everybody that I have talked to who runs them says the same thing, "They're fine up front, but I would NEVER run them in the rear." I haven't met anybody who actually broke a set of front 4.10, but that doesn't say all that much. I'll let you know what kind of torture they get from me and how they work out.
My $.02

Clifton 10-19-2001, 04:45 PM They have never asked a question when I've called for the warrenty. But after two sets I got them to give me Richmonds. I had to pay the difference but that's fine. I got tired of pulling thirds and cleaning broken bits out of my rears. I would just spend the extra $50 and get Richmonds. I guess I learned from my mistakes.
