So i put a 12 inch lift in my 1986 chevy 1 ton pickup and i have ran into a problem. I went mud bogging last weekend and broke 2 front drive shafts within an hour. It was a stock driveshaft and it obviously needs to be replaced. But before i put another driveshaft in i want to know what i can do to eliminate this problem in the future.
Any suggestions?

drive shaft with 2 double cardans would help, angle your pinon up some and lengthen the shaft (no idea how you made it fit)....o and lowering the transfer case would help some since all you do is mud bog

well u can cut and turn the front diff to point the pinion up with out ruining the caster. Or add a doubler t case set up of some sort to lengthen the front d/s, or spend mega loot on a 42 degree cv set up from jess at high angle drive line or tom woods :smokin:
thats about all u got if u wanna keep the nosebleed height and have a solid front d/s that i can think of right now

i have the t case lowered an inch or 2 and the axel is cut and rotated. I think 2 double cardans should work i will try that. Thanks

Why would you ever think that would work? If you have already cut and turned the axle having a CV joint at the axle is not going to do you a bit of good. If you think you can put 2 CV's at the t-case.... well good luck :flipoff2:
So where did you blow it? At the axle or the t-case?
The best sugestion has already been said "lower it". You can't just slap in a 12" lift and expect it to work. Those lifts are for posers.

get rid of the lift and use double frames/ 6inch body lift/ and lift blocks front and rear. Your steering setup should look like a z and always use a cold air induction/pvc snorkel
that is all:shaking:

X2.........or 3 for that matter
What size tires r u running? I would lower the truck and cut the fenders if you need more room
