So i got my truck somewhat running, but there are still a few problems. They idle remains contantly high. Could this be the IAC? The temp is erratic but i think that is my thermostat. Could it be anything else? Also what are some signs of a bad TP sensor?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks,
Dave

could be a bad O2 sensor. try cleaning the iac valve. could be your thermostat sticking open making it increase the idle speed. my .02

don't think its the tps.your idle speed would be up and down.

High idles:
Check for ANY vacume leaks below the throttle blades. Any leak will cause the engine idle to increase, try spraying a carb-cleaner around the base of the TBI and throttle shafts.
The TBI to manifold gaskets tend to get "sucked in" and leak with age.
Also, the throttle shafts tend to wear out the casting and leak and/or stick. (the casting can be re-bushed)

you think it couldbe the gasket between the tbi and that breather plate thing(the thing that has a pipe going from the valve covers to the tbi?)

That riser that has the PVC system plumbed into it is not sealed, so it ceratinly would not be that ......if it was possible you would get a high idle everytime you take the air cleaner off....

Have you read the codes?

My TPS recently went bad and the symptom was an intermittent high idle.

Could be the IAC, since this does control idle.

O2 sensor, thermostat, or temp sensor...or I guess even the MAP sensor....lol could be anything. First, as was mentioned, I would check for vacuum leaks, then check the codes.

Running lean will make that motor run hot too. My vote is vacuum leak. If you have a propane torch, you can run a line around the motor where you suspect the leak is at, and the idle will change when you find it.

by the way my thoughts came from the fsm.
