Picked up a bronco. Funny thing is I think it has a C6 instead of an AOD. I have no over drive and the ratio from first to seccond isnt as close as it should be. Feels like a C6 to me. Im going to look when i get home and have a chance.

It has a Windsor in it though. What can I do to get a little more oomph? Havent played much with these EFI engines. I always leave em stock. I play more with my carbed 460s.

Any thoughts? Im going to rid her of the cats and muffs then run some straight pipes out in front of the rear tires. What else engine wise? Any tricks like timing or someting to unleash the chevy beattin power here?

Thanks.

the 5.0 got the AOD - the 5.8 got the C6 or the E40D later on ( 90 on ) - they are good motors, but underpowered compared the chevys. There are a few simple mods that can wake them up -

open up the exhaust, a 3" and a good muffler help - the cats are 3" but 2.25 out - i cut the rear of my cat to 3", but if you are going no cats then i say 2" head pips to 3" high flow Y -

then headers - the factory manifolds suck - id go 1.5" for the 5.0 and 1 5/8" for the 5.8

1.7 rockers will bolt on a few HP ( factory is 1.6 )

up the timing to 12-14 ( 10 is spec - drop it back if she pings )

and a good air filter - i like K&N - no need for the kits - just a filter

its a good start

bosch +4 plugs is what F250 runs... I think he gained 11 horses from those...

Good tune up, Autolight double platnums, get it breathing in, and out good - drive it for 100,000 miles without touching it.:smokin:
