When I moved the front spring hanger forward, the front bolt hole of the hanger moved past the end of the frame. Is this common? Should I just weld on some frame extension? This the same on both sides.
Ignore the tire in the pic, the axle is not under the truck. The pic is of the inside of the passenger frame rail.

weld it.
on my first swap i didnt want the axle moved forwards so i heated up the body mount and hammered it in till it matched the spring cup. puttin the cup dirrectly under the body mount, that will buy you 2" back under the frame.

I have only seen that on blaze frames on my truck i didnt have that problem but you can see the frames are clearly differant on the front edge:

Mine is an 82, is yours a 70's?
If I have to weld, I will weld some extension to the frame. I don't want the mount welded to the frame.

Weird, my '87 1-ton and my '89 Blazer have the exact same frame profiles. Go figure.

The frame ends changed in 1981 to accomodate the the new bumper mount setup up. The 80 and back trucks, the bumper mounted dirctly to the frame. On the newer trucks, the bumper mounted to brackets that mounted to the frame.
Brett, I have mine welded without frame extensions, and have no problems with it. In fact, I have stitch welded all my front mounts and crossmembers to keep them from moving around.
Did Lehi get you that 4oo output shaft by the way?

I really can't remember but I think I swaped the brackets from one side to the other and it lined up fine. But I could be wrong, its been a while since I did that mod.

Chris, I did get that shaft, thanks.
I have some 1/8" square tube and if I do make an extension, I'll post pics. I was just seeing what others were doing. I still have the old bumper, so I'll go look at the brackets on it.
Thanks,
Brett

just do it this way, you dont necessarily need to have those front holes and you can just grind them off and use grade 8 bolts all around.
