calfj60 07-20-2002, 12:23 AM Looks good to me but its hard to make a decision based on one pic. Whats on the other side? What are you planning to do with your 40? Are you cool with the soft top or do you need/want a hard top? I'd say drive it or see if someone you know can. Later
Polarweasel 07-20-2002, 07:36 AM If it's got no rust, why all the diamond-plate? Check carefully...
I do like the turn signals on the front, though. I'll probably do that to mine once my fenders rust the rest of the way off. :D
KrustyKruiser 07-20-2002, 09:32 AM That's a nice looking stock rig - looks real clean. I doubt whether someone went to the trouble of re-painting it if it was a rust bucket, especially in CA. The diamond plate is most probably just for looks. It would be a shame to build a rock crawler out of this -- frankly it looks too good. If you are planning to go heavy duty wheeling, get something a bit more "tired" looking and build it up, or find someones project and finish it - would be cheaper in the long run. Your major problem is going to be talking your Dad into buying a project vehicle - I know, I have been there! Its much easier to bring home a clean looking truck, and then start in on the mods. But more expensive that way. Good luck! Keep looking.

I'm sorry, but that's just scary!... You hit the nail right on the
head... I was planning to only change a few things about this
cruiser... get a hardtop, and probably paint it that stock sand
color... I would do some light wheeling, but it wouldn't be modded
much more than this... I'll start talkin to the guy if someone lives
near him and can check it out for me....

KrustyKruiser 07-20-2002, 01:23 PM Why not drive down to Fremont yourself and check it out (you're in Orinda, right?). That way you dont have to rely on someone else's opinion of how good it is. If you want a sand colored one, I know of one that color in Oakland thats for sale for $4500, its a 78 I believe.
spalding 07-20-2002, 07:18 PM krusty, i mentioned jamse's cruiser here a couple of weeks ago, as did orangefj45. i will do it again, jamse 510 658 1471 in oakland, your neck of the woods, probably 15/20 min. from your house.
the 80 should be back in action this coming week. krusty, when does complaine go back to school?

orangefj45 07-21-2002, 12:09 PM if you do want to have somebody come look at it with you, give me a call at work 800-991-0117. afternoons are best. i work in hayward and can meet you at the guys house in freemont one day after work if that'll help. did you ever check out the one i e-mailed you about in palo alto? looked like it had soome potential but i don't know what the guy was asking.
Krusty- I just want to know if it is worth getting there as I would
have to rely on someone else like my dad.... Thanx fer the heads
on the one in oakland, but 4500 is a bit too high... and i'm goin
for pre '74 for smog reasons...
Orangefj- Thank you very much... I only want someone to drop by
and see if it's worth my time... I don't remember gettin one that
was located in palo alto, if it's still for sale send it to
LCL@pirate4x4.com again...
thanx for the help all
