Junkyard Slug

Hi all. I want to remove the rear bracket from the front spring in a GMC/Chevy truck. The junkyard I go to lets me pull my own parts, but the trucks are way in the back in the woods and stacked up. There is one blazer with the front axle already out and fairly accesable, but it is to far to run an extention cord or an air hose, and I cant torch the rivet out. Is there anything I can do to get the rivet out?
Thanks all,
JYS

get a good cold chisel and a 2 to 5# sledge hammer. cut the heads off and use a good punch to knock the rivit out. it works better than you think. mike

Hammer and a chisel??
Use the chisel to knock the head off the rivet, then use a punch to hammer it out of the frame.

Thaks yall, I don't know why I didn't think of a chisel and sledge earlier. I guess before I go out to the junkyard I will just lie down under my rig and hit my head on the frame 40 or 50 times to try to get my brain working again!
Thanks alot!

How about an "air chizel" and a few portable air tanks, or better yet a small compressed air tank (CO2)(like a Power-Tank).
That should work great!!

Give the man a twenty and have him pull it to the garage...you'll spend some time with just a cold chisel, maybe 20-30 minutes...slip him a twenty, your time is worth it.....

Most yard will cut off the parts for you pretty cheap. Heck most yards have a truck with cutting torches and tools that run around the yard anyway. If they have a fork truck for moving the cars they can pick it up so it's safe also.
I have had to cut some of the rivits off my 75K5 and even with an air chisle, Drill and cuttoff tools it's still a pain in the butt. Universal Blue wrench(Cutting torch) will have it off in 5 minutes or less in the hands of somebody that knows how to use it.
It's worth the agrivation to lay down an extra $20 like the others have said.
