Shooting an XD40 Tactical

I am currently using cast 185 grain truncated cone bullets and 4.5 grains of titegroup.

I would like to load up some plinkers for knocking down steel at distances from 15 to 45 feet.

I would like it to have minimal recoil/muzzle flip but still enough punch to properly/dependably cycle the gun using the stock recoil spring

Should I switch to the locally available 155 grain cast bullets?

What type/amount of powder would you guys recommend?

thanks

The heavier bullet should reduce muzzle flip.
Just try the minimun charge in your manuel and see how it shoots. I use 231 in my pistol loads, havent tried anything else. I load the pistol in bulk, not for super accuracy. The 231 has worked well.

You have to have enough charge/bullet mass to cycle the action but keep the velocities low enough not to lead the barrel.

Find a book load specifically for lead bullets.
