I have a TH400 and am needing a shifter. I see a few new ones for $170 on ebay. Is there any that would work good out of a junk yard?

I was planning on using a 3 speed floor shifter from a Cavalier/Sunfire until I got my Z-Gate for less than the salvage yard wanted for the Cav parts.

I got a mr. gasket one on ebay for like 40 its got linkage not a cable though... easy if u have pass drop PITA if u have drivers drop

For 20.00 I got shifter from a late model grand am with cable and also got the lever that goes on the electric controler.The lever fit my 350 and was the right through for the detents.The cable is about 8 foot long so placement is not a problem.
Its also lighted.The only thing is the shifter is for a 4 speed but in my application it did not matter.

Im running a cheap z gate welded up a diamond plate box and mounted it on top.

The only one to run is from Winters Performance (http://www.wintersperformance.com/catalogs/SideWinder/04.htm). Believe me the price is right for the quality of the shifter!

Cable winters is the best.

Linkage...I just used a 87 Mercedes shifter. Indent for all gears and of course german well made, bolts right to the floor or console, very nice.
I happened to find it at my local U-Pull-it.

i use the mr. gasket truck shifter, but its a serious piece of shit.

I had a b&m z-gate, but it sucked, also had a different fancier b&m and didnt like it either, I am going to convert my column shifter to work a cable off it instead so I wont have to lean down or build some stand for the shifter.

I went with a lokar floor shifter. All linkage and a long shifter for a manual look.
