in california, do you have to have a CDL to drive a motorhome? I know that in Texas you do not. both Burrabbit and myself are bus drivers for the Texas A&M system. During home sports games, prolly around 100-200 motorhomes come in. These people are not required to have CDL training and it shows. THey can not drive worth a darn. The University Police Department has to close down the main road going in to the motorhome parking so they can get out safely. i think there should be some sort of length requirments for drivers. there is a big difference in driving a 40' vehicle and driving a 40' truck/trailer combo.

No CDL required in Ca or Nv for a motorhome.

I believe that if it's under 26K lbs GVW, no CDL required.
Recreation Vehicles are exempt from the CDL requirement nationwide. Doesn't matter what the GVW is.

i dont know why....some of those things are bigger and longer then a bus, and are certianly harder to drive then a tractor trailer combo.

DUH. :flipoff2: They have laws that favor them because they have well-funded, well-organized professional lobbyists working to ensure this. RV sales is a HUGE chunk of business, and these businesses understand how to work the political system.

The people in our government want to drive their motorhomes without restriction thats why. One of them made it legal to tow a boat behind a fifth wheel travel trailer to suit their needs.

As I understand it, no CDL for motorhomes.
