Hello, I've been lurking here for along time gathering information getting ready to start my build-up so first off thank you pirate 4x4 for the wealth of info here. (Plus I didn't want to be asking a bunch of noob questions you guys can be brutal:D) anyway I've come across a TBI 350 with harness and a 700r4. I would like to sell off the 700r4 and and go with a manual for my swap. I'm probably going to look for a sm465 or similar GM tranny. what would be the easiest for this swap? what other pieces should I be looking for to complete this swap? I'm probably going to use the AA saddle mount for motor mounts. I remeber ready somewhere about using the back and internals of a jeep 231 t-case with the chevy 231 case any info on this? Sorry for all the questions and thank you in advance for any info:homer:

*edit- also how about axles, I have access to free D60s from an 80s Dodge one ton, but its the wrong side drop? would it be worth it to find a t-case with the right drop to use these? how about Waggy 44s?

Ill trade ya your 700r4 for a sm465 with bell housing? Its a 2 wheel trans but can be converted. Something to think about.
Remember to think about this. Build you shit one time, Build it big and make suttle changed when need be. If you have d60s use them! Dont let a TCASE STOP YOU FROM A FREE SET OF D60S

As stated about if they are free don't let a tcase stop you. I would suggest getting the D60s and look for a dana 300 out of a CJ. Its a all gear tcase and it already has a fixed yoke on it, and it is a pass side drop. just my .02 cents.

I'm worried about the HUGE diffs on the 60s though as I'm looking for 35-37 inch tires. also I have heard dodge d60s aren't desirable but I cant remember why for the life of me
