: Pristine tub value?

Here is a question for y'all!

Let's say that I somehow got my hands on a really pristine '40 tub (possibly '74 vintage) in the NorthEast area.

For a second, imagine that it was totally perfect, and totally rust free. The only thing that might be wrong with it is a crease on one of the rockers - under the door - totally sandblasted, and not a single rust spot.

What might something like this be worth?

Thanks!

In CA you could get $500 to $750, would be my guess - I have seen good tubs around here go begging. In your neck of the woods, where the demon rust is a problem, you could probably get twice that amount. I remember reading on the LCML (when I was a subscriber many years ago) about pople spending thousands to repair their rusty tubs. So there's my 2 cents

I had a rust-free tub from a '75 FJ40 that I sold here in the Southeast for $300. The deal included some other stuff as well, but I also trade a ton of stuff with the Cruiserhead I sold it too. I suppose rust-free tubs aren't anywhere near as hard to find here as they are up there, but I'm all for cutting a fellow Cruiserhead a really good deal(especially when he's got 4 times as many parts trucks as I do). Just my opinion-it's worth what it costs you

Wow!

If I can only get $300-$400, I will just go ahead and hack it up for my trail truck! It is so nice that I just figured it had to be worth something to someone restoring one back to original.

Thanks,

Andy, It is worth more than $400 on the East Coast. If you have another tub to put on a trail rig save the good tub and hold out for the right buyer.

Good old tubs are so hard to find in the East it would be a shame to hack it up. Bob Bascom in VA may be interested. He has been talking about putting a new tub on his truck.

Put an ad on the LCML and you may find someone interested.

Hell, if my truck was not a 79 I would be interested in it.

Andy,
If Bob isnt interested, I might be....... I could probably only offer you $500 or $600, though....... :(
Would you consider a 22RTE, or an A340 auto from same,......or maybe a SBC 383ci sortblock with 0 miles,......or some other rusty Cruzah parts in trade?...... :D

Post on JTOUTFITTERS.COM bulliten board, you should have no problem selling it for some coin. I would say that to hack up a nice tub on this coast would be a shame, as they are so few and far between.
Try a mailing to yankeetoys.org for boston or the gotham city guys as well in NYC.

Do you have any pics of the tub in question.
