i have been weighing my options and iv been leaning toward the vitara 2.0 swap for my rig. do theese things have the same trans as a 1.6, because i am still thinking about the ott twin case set up. or does anyone know of an adapter to make something like that work? ive also been looking at trail toughs kit, dose anyone else have a kit that is simmilar? is there anything else im missing?

Hi levi:
The European 2.0 V6 has a different tranny than the 1.6. I assume this also is true for the 2.0 4-cyl..
Differences as far as I can tell:
- Bell housing for the v6 is different
- Thicker shaft for larger pilot bearing
Best regards,

I have a 2.0 in front of a 1.6 8V trans, you need a moddified flywheel, that's it. I also have the OTT toy T-case adapter.

He is right.I have a 2.0l with a 1.6 bell housing with a ringer adapter to toyota tranny/transfer case. All bolted up fine.Had to modify the a 1.6 fly wheel too.I got my info from rock 4 x fabrications.Awsome people to get info from.Look them up.

All my parts are from 4cyl stuff. My 2.0l is a 2001 4cyl, bell housing is from a 4cyl 1.6.I forget the guys name at 4xfabrication but he pointed me in the right direction. He even told me the dimenions on the things that I machined myself at work.Very cool.
The motor is a Vitara also.

I'm planning the same swap in my build. I'm planning on putting it together the same as TDavis' http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534647 It's been done several times before, the bellhousing works, flywheel doesn't. I'm here in Eugene too, I'd like to see that come together... mine is a ways away.
