spaceghost has the best setup I have seen for that drivetrain. Maybe he will see this post.

I used a con-fer and have had to straighten it a few times.

I have my stock one on...have same setup you do. Its just cut abit around the d-shafts, but I haven't gotten it hung up on anything to know if its sturdy, but being that heavy it better be...

sorry for the delay in getting back on this. I don't have any pics of this at all so hopefully your imagination will suck this all up.

Overview, I used 3x3 angle iron, 1.4" plate steel and 2 bent pieces of 1.5" .120 wall tubing. The angle iron runs along the frame rails about 14" long. The angle is placed so the flats sides are inside and along the bottom of the frame. I drilled holes to fitover/around the fram rivets so it sits flush on the frame.

I drilled holes thru the frame rails and angle iron from the outside towards the middle. Only 2 on each side, and sleeved the holes with 3/4 pipe. After aligning everything I welded the nuts to the angle iron, as captured nuts. These are the mounting bolts for the skid plate, and do not stick down at all to get torn up.

The 2 pieces of tubing are bent then welded to the angle iron at the front and rear of the tcase. The front tube is shaped similar to the stock crossmember, the rear has a bigger bulge to drop under and protect the e-brake drum. I cut them to length and fit them in place and tack welded them up. Careful measuring and tfitting was required because the frame rails are not perpendicular.

When done with the frame I removed it and finished welding the tubing in place. Test fit to make sure I didn't distort it, and then I laid it upside down on the floor and using cardboard cut strips and shapes to cover the bottom. Because of the large radius hoop under the e-brake the shapes eliminating trying to bend 1/4 plate to shape. Once I was satisfied I laid some bead.

This will support the weight of the vehicle and takes a beating. Sorry I don't have pics to share, maybe someday soon I'll snap some and the board will be ready for me to post em.

I can't take pictures right now since the cruiser is in the shop getting p/s, hydro assist, and lockers...Its just basically the stock skidplate and where the originaly openings were for room for the driveshaft, were cut a bit wider and and deeper...
