I found a NP435 with a Dana T-case couldnt read all the tag but it had a dana symbol on the tag. Then i found a SECOND one too.... so what kinda t case is this? I KNOW it ain't a NP205 and it is NOT a NP203. The front end has drum brakes and is reverse rotation. so its older than 77. The transmission has an aluminum top on it so its a NP435. I was just wondering if I got a rare find or something?

My guess would be the single speed dana 21(no low range)

So if I read all that right... that is a SUPER cheap and easy way of making a NP435/D20 combo for eb's?

I think MR. N has the right idea..... The purpose of the expensive adapters is just so the EB guys don't have to get their driveshafts lengthened/shortened.

No he didn't, but my point is if you are swapping this crap into your ranger or something, drivelines aren't an issue. The way MR.N posted would be a better solution.
The dana 21/20 thing leaves out the spud shaft bearing, and I don't think that's so great. I looked into it before I bought my advanced adapters unit. Since my bronco is my daily driver, I couldn't afford to have any problems.
Here's a bunch of pictures I took of a dana 21 adapter. Pay particular attention the ones with the dana20 gasket laid on top. You'll see what you are up against.
I tried to label them so you know what you are looking at.

Will the gear just inside the D21 input opening in this pic

fit the gear just visible on the inside right of the D20 in this pic?

If so, couldnt the stock D21 adapter from the back of the NP435 be used to directly bolt up the D20? The D21 adapter would have to be modified for bolt pattern, but nothing else really. Unless I am missing something.
The gear inside the D21 could be welded to the output of the stock D21 adapter. The D20 could just slide right on. In theory.

The gears on the Dana 21 are straight cut, the Dana 20 gears are not. So no they are not interchangable. Plus they really are completely different.
However, I guess it could be possible to machine a new dana 20 gear designed to work with the dana 21 adapter, but that wouldn't offer any cost savings.
Did you see this link? He used the dana 21 adapter.
