I was thinking a give away would be a cool thing to do for a "grand opening" of the expedition page, now that it has been up and running for a while:D
Post up your wishes on what you would like to win and I will see if I can get a vendor to do a give away. Good for them, good to add a little excitement to our page:grinpimp: Don't get all crazy like someone will give away a rig or something, I was thinking along the lines of 100$ to 300$ range.

As a running theme, I think it would be rad if we could get suppliers of a lot of the universal camping rig stuff that we'd all like to put into our expedition vehicles involved in this section of the site. Fridges, stoves, heaters, electonics, water supply stuff, etc.

How about a gas powered margerita maker and disco ball to hang in the tree. Big Cots and hammocks for laying back. Solar hot water for showers. A deluxe crapper for the ol lady with lots of TP.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but fuck those assholes :flipoff:. However pretty much anything on the site would be cool to win, provided it was purchased elsewhere.

I have most of the gear listed above, it's good stuff too. But.....I have never read any of the 2-3 popular overland travel books I see so highly recommended, no real reason I don't have them, I think I'd thoroughly enjoy them too...a couple of books, cool flashlight and a decent knife cause you just can't have too many of those would make the first giveaway "back to the basics" if ya know what I mean.

A satellite tracking device called SPOT.
It's really cool because it connects up to a website in real time (i think it updates every 10 minutes or something) and your friends and family can keep track of where you are.
It also has a feature to alert any and all emergency personnel in the region you are in (worldwide) in case of any injury or emergency situation you might find yourself in.

All the other previous ideas are pretty great as well, and most are already on my list of "must-haves". :D

I am game for donating a years subscription to Overland Journal (http://www.overlandjournal.com) to help with the launch of this forum.

It is great to see the interest in overland travel on this board.
