We're trying to track down and talk to a *Troy* who drives a flattie with his license plate up on his Rubicon type rack. Here's a report of his behavior (to go along with another report I have of him the night before). the language is harsh....
*********
we organized the 5th annual rubicon scramble, w/ a number of CJ-8s to do the 'con july 12-15. great time, of course, except for the ugly incident that makes me ashamed the bad guys are from nevada. we're coming down big sluice, just before the bridge and all of a sudden i hear all this commotion 3 rigs back. loud cussing, revving motors, and the like. seems "troy" wanted past the cj8 behind me and myself, and he had no patience at all. we pulled over the best we could (not a lot of room here) and he roared on by, cussing up a storm, not treading lightly over virgin dirt, etc. we pass several empty coors lite cans right on the trail. they looked fresh. So we soon pull into the springs and there low and behold is this troy and the red commando buddy , parked right on the damn trail. they're over at the bar, hosted by auburn jeepers. i'm 1st in line and say something like, "hey, who's parked on the trail?" immediately from the bar comes a "fuck you". troy at his best i guess. i gently state it's not good trail etiquette to block the trail and he shouts again "fuck you, go to hell". my wife is now blushing. he then says "move it yourself". the wife pops out to get in, and he then comes trotting over w/ coors lite in hand. i do not court confrontations, but the way he was parked, we could not get around, owing to the metal fence posts. well he sprints over and angrily says we should mind our own business. gets into his jeep and tries to ram me w/ his right front tire. (we are trying to go around to his right side). then he tries to climb over my left front tire with his right front.

Actually, we have located the trail abuser in question. Several witnesses have stepped up to the plate, willing to help law enforcement officials to whatever extent. Many FOTR and POR folks helped me track him down. I was hoping to speak with the abuser personally before I gave the entire report to law enforcement; however he has yet to be available to me.

I was actually thinking at one point that maybe the guy would get the message, send all of us an apology of some sort, that would make up for his behavior, and maybe change our minds about taking this to the law enforcement level. Maybe I'm naive. But if it were me, and I had a choice between apologizing for being an idiot one weekend vs. serious court time, I'd sure opt for the apology.

Once I submit the report to the officials, I probably won't be able to discuss it much more, knowing the judicial system. But I'll keep you posted as best as I can.

Hey Del, I bet the reason this guy has yet to offer up an apology is that he feels he did nothing wrong. He was "Just out in the trail enjoying his right to a good time".

I'm glad to see he was tracked down this way. It shows the other potential jackasses out there that if they act like fools, they're gonna get called out publicly by thier peers ;)

Yea, MustardDog, I'm glad we found him too. But you know, most of us have no problem with a guy enjoying himself -- especially in camp, not behind the wheel drunker than a skunk and endangering my family who are wheeling also, maybe right behind him. I've seen too much in my life of someone having a good time (with booze), and ending up hurting someone else (like my or your family member). I ain't going for it.
