My brother and I have been slowly installing the 8"rock ready lift on his xj. We've got everything pretty much in place but have run into a problem w/ the trac bar. The kit comes w/ an adjustable "hiem" type joint at the frame end and mounts to the stock stearing stabilizer location on the axle. The problem was after installing the axle side the frame side was about an inch to the passenger side of where it needed to be (too short). We lifted the driver front side of the axle to get her in but now it seems to be pulling the driver side down about 2 inches. I know that alot of you guys feel this lift is a collosal waste and are probably gonna slam the shit outa us for using it but oh well. I adjusted the adj. end out to the maximum reccomended length and it's still to short. what do you guys reccomend? should I try to relocate the frame side hole towards the pass. side? give me some ideas.

It didn't come with a trac-bar relocation bracket of some sort? You may have to have the vehicle on the ground before you can install the tracbar. Once its on the ground with the weight of the vehicle on it, move the steering wheel back and forth to line it up. That may or may not work with that tracbar setup.
It was on the ground when we first tried. No relocation bracket.

Call 1-800-softride and speak to Ken in tech....he should be able to tell you if you are missing parts
Simple, use a ratchet strap or come along to pull the axle into place, are you sure the directions didnt say to drill a new hole for it? or a bracket? i know the 3" TJ lifts we do require drilling a new hole for the front track bar and the rear requires a relocation bracket. BOTH REQUIRE BEING STRAPPED BACK INTO PLACE. hope this helps :)
Brad,
I'm positive on the directions. They didn't say crap about any new holes or relocation. Although they didn't say crap about having to modify the"bolt on" kit to actually fit the truck either. I was really dissapointed w/ the instructions provided. They left alot of crap out. I got the trac bar into place but like I said it's pullin the front driver side down. I'm thinking about taking it off and tryin the ratchet strap trick. I'll let you know how it works out.
