Well guys I started ripping everything off the sammi today (seats, carpet, plastic everywhere, spare mount, etc..) and first thing is first. I noticed underneath the cheap rocker plastic was this odd-shaped metal guide about 30% rusted out. Do I just sawzall this thing off or are there screws or something holding it in place? I don't see any but you never know..

And what should I be looking at for body armor and a cage? Since I'm going to be sandblasting this week it makes sense to do the armor now. I was checking out trail tough's front cage, any good? Or better recommendations for cages? What about bumpers, rocker guards, etc. I have an ARB and a TrailReady on my Jeep but I'm not going for the best "look" here on the sammi.. I want effective, high quality body armor.

The angle is spot welded saw it off or drill the spots, rocker protection Good 4x4 angle iron or get a hold of Shrock on this board hes makin some inexpensive quality protection not to mention he just got laid off so support your zuk bretheren
as far as cages go take your pick, or build it your self, Dave sport,
extreme 4x at roadless gear, petroworks, TT they all have something to offer all preference and money limitations.

Rocker protection = Shrock.

Roll Cage = find a local circle track shop and have them bend you a custom, usually five bucks a bend + your steel.

For my zuk I'm running a Wheeler's (http://www.wheelersoffroad.com) front winch bumper, a Davesport (http://www.davesport.com) cage that I modified and added to and a Trail Tough (http://www.trailtough.com) rear bumper with swing out capability.

I made my own rocker protection out of 4x4 .25 angle. I've got some pics here (http://home.attbi.com/~rokzuki/slider.htm).

The Wheeler's front bumper is really stout and has the strongest mounting system that I've seen so far (as far as bolt-on bumpers goes).

Thanks everyone for your help. Today I ordered Shrock's rocker guards, and a Petroworks cage.

Tomorrow I will be ordering Wheeler's front winch bumper, and either a Wheeler's rear or TrailTough rear.. it's a tough call between the two still.

I liked the Trail Tough rear bumper a little bit better. If you go with that one, spend a little bit more for the swing out carrier ready model. Even if you don't plan on putting their carriers on there, it will be real easy to add your own later if you want.

One of these days I still plan on making some swing out carriers for mine.

Yeah I think I am leaning the same way, and it's a bit cheaper. I would definitely snag the swing-out carrier. I have a swing-out on my Jeep (TrailReady) and I love it. Plus that makes the most sense to grab theirs for the spare anyways.
