I know that DOM is better, but 2x the price of HREW here, will it be cool to do a Zuk tube buggy thingy with 120 wall HREW instead, or would you guys use DOM... THe only reason I don't ask in general forum is because of the weight of a ZUK, would it really matter for that extra 10 percent strength gain...

I cut up my ZUK today, and realized it needs more tube... If i keep the Firewall, Hood and dash, is it still a ZUK or is it a tube buggy... Im keeping the frame and the stock driveline for now, Hopefully divorced dual toys in the future...

Also the shafer buggy is all ERW. .120 What I was told by my friends Dad who build race cars for a living at Sears Point raceway is the advantage to DOM is say if you would use .120 erw you could use.095 dom and have the same strengh. Also I was told on their full chasse's it would save them between 10 and 15lbs per car. This is alot of weight for them but I don't feel it is worth the money to us. Sh!t if we cut back 1 or 2 beers a night we would loose more weight and have more money for gas so we can go on more runs and drink more beer. Waite I am starting to see a patern here!!

im using 1.5" .120 erw no ones gonna fault you for using dom. (ok i wont) but persoanlly id save the $ and buy some other wiz bang, go slow, parts...

hell my brothers only running .095, 083 and even .060 wall in his pro stock dirt car (roundy round stuff)

IMHO, .120 ERW is fine for what you are doing.

DOM is some nice shiat, however the price is higher than that of HREW. If you have the money to do the tube in DOM than by all means get it! If not HREW will do just fine, we built my Zuk with a mixture of 2"x.120, 1.5"x.120 and some 1"x.120. It would have been nice to have used DOM or some 4130 Cromo. Hope this helps, we've also built a ton of rigs with good old HREW.

Now I may sound completely dumb, but ERW? Ill do a search, no need for the bashing ill take if I ask right? Anyhow, I plan to stick with 120 wall because I am building this rig for:
1. Everyday trail use
2. TO Eventually compete in Erocc (SP)
3. To protect my a$$ when I go over (and over and over and over)

I gotta keep the 120 wall to compete from what i understand...

That previous post is under my friends name... I think Ill call and get prices on ERW, and compare... If it works for you guys, its good enough for me right? Yeah, thats it..

ERW is .04 cents cheaper here than the HREW, so which should be used? I would think HREW since everyone else uses it... But then again, if everyone used black pipe we'd all be dead, so gotta ask right?

Mine was made with steel pipe and a saw one rolled Samurai with same cage without any big damage. I think it is enough and cheap.

FIA specs use 3mm tubes.
