My friend has a 93 F250 4X4 with a 7.3 diesel and 5 speed manual tranny. We thought that the clutch went out because he could let the clutch out, shift through the gears with out any grinding, oh and the truck did not move either. Basically, something broke in the middle. Pulled it apart over the weekend and the truck has a dual mass flywheel. Never seen one before but how do you tell it is bad? The clutch does not look bad and the only thing broken is the pilot bearing. The tranny seems o.k. too. NOW WHAT?
Has anyone ever had problems with the dual mass flywheels? How do you check? Does anybody rebuild these?
