Tinman 09-06-2009, 10:51 AM Yes, but only generally. Flows are planned but fine tuning is done by observing real time levels. In addition, I believe there are high flow days designed to give the kayakers their time to play.
As a rule of thumb, water flows increase from May to July and then stay there until September/October when PG&E cuts back as the dam is at the proper level for winter. The exception is the low water release for Siera Trek.
Snow melt is also a large part of the spring and early summer river level and that's why one always needs to figure that in when looking at the release numbers. River flow will also increase during the day and receed at night during the melt.
jethrodeg 09-21-2009, 10:17 PM Just for future reference 270-280cfs at the committee crossing was up to the bottom of my headlights. (45 inches) The water on the side was bouncing off at 48+ inches. This is driving the good line. Much deeper in the holes.
VERTIGO 06-09-2010, 05:23 PM 350 is about max my rig on 40s could take, it was coming over our lap. I would not suggest to pass if its higher than that!
I remember just below Kranker falls, the "shoot" doubled in flow in one hour. It can happen quickly so be prepared.
jethrodeg 06-10-2011, 12:46 PM Dam release is over 750 (not counting substantial tributary contributions)
You will die if you try crossing at that flow. Just saying. :flipoff2:
42s on u 06-10-2011, 12:54 PM Where did ya find that flow #?
WHITE RHINO 06-10-2011, 01:42 PM At 700 that would be suicide and just plain retarded
I wont go through it at over 350-400 not worth losing my rig, the link below is me crossing on 44's (with a flat) at about 300. I was getting pushed around and water above my lap. I would recommend not crossing at that level if you have smaller tires

In the first post of this thread. Those three large graphs. They are always displaying the current release information from dreamflows.
Edit 9:25pm: Flowing at 792
ddestruel 06-15-2011, 11:59 AM 1,182 cfs at 8:00am 6/15 thats unreal any debris in that creek is going to be cleared out and you can bet some underwater obsticles at the creek crossings will be moving in that kind of white water. and the melt is just getting started just wait for another week or two things will really be moving then
The holes and crossings will be different from years past, drivers beware.
jethrodeg 06-29-2011, 03:24 PM 1800cfs + :smokin:
Blue Devil Toyota 06-29-2011, 04:21 PM 1800cfs + :smokin:
Do you think a 2700lb sami on 37's could float across it?
FuzzyZ 06-29-2011, 05:58 PM im sure a 6000lbs rig would float somewhere at that flow!
jethrodeg 06-29-2011, 06:19 PM Do you think a 2700lb sami on 37's could float across it?
All I can say is...take video. :flipoff2:
ErikB 07-07-2011, 12:22 PM WTF is this 2700 spike all about?
I know there was a thunderstorm up in the Truckee area yesterday, but holeeee sheet.

Hmmm...a 1700cfs increase in a few hours time?? That might have folks downstream on edge. :homer:
ErikB 07-07-2011, 02:23 PM Maybe Meadow or Sterling dam broke up above...?
Blue Devil Toyota 07-07-2011, 02:43 PM Let's get that helicopter back up there to take a look.

That is great. Thanks for the site.
jethrodeg 07-14-2011, 12:06 PM Dreamflows @ 350+- 7/13/11
350 is no joke. It seems low because it was so high only a few weeks ago. After adding in tributaries, which are not accounted for in Dream Flows, it is substantially more than 350. Also the changing temps will affect the river flow. As the day warms up the creeks really start to increase flow. Keep an eye out for thunder showers as well.
JDunn 07-14-2011, 04:17 PM Wow 350 that's great!
Also remeber with all the water flowing like it has been. The "Best" lines to take could have changed.
scottz 08-03-2011, 07:04 PM anyone know whats going on with the river level? it hasn't been updated for a few days now.
rockyota83 08-04-2011, 10:43 PM anyone know whats going on with the river level? it hasn't been updated for a few days now.
ive been wondering the same thing for a few days now, i check it almost daily. did they stop releasing extra early for trek this year? anyone?
Medic83 08-05-2011, 12:37 AM I am heading up there with some buddies. One of the guys Im going with went last weak and crossed. He thinks it was around 350 or so. I hope its alot lower than that. Ive been checking dream flows as well and it isnt updated. Is there a PGE number I can call to get the rate?
VERTIGO 08-05-2011, 09:26 AM I was up last weekend and crossed commitee. Actually wasn't that bad. I tried my hardest to miss the big holes... They are deep. Don't cross at night~
jethrodeg 08-05-2011, 10:33 AM I tried my hardest to miss the big holes...
I tried to do the same but it didn't work out as planned. :homer:
kdub0013 08-31-2011, 07:50 AM Anyone have an idea if the creek will stay down below 200 this weekend? I know they can turn it up at anytime, but hoping some of you insiders had a clue? Be there either way :D
stealthjeep1 10-12-2011, 09:37 PM Looking to run Fordyce the weekend of Oct 22-23, 2011. Looked at a flowrate website and they didn't have any current info on Fordyce Creek. Any info about possible flowrates over that weekend?
RCKRATZ 10-12-2011, 09:45 PM I have never seen the flow be very high at all this time of year. You will be fine
stealthjeep1 10-12-2011, 10:08 PM Thanks
