: PBB Tour WA
Ben W 07-23-2002, 09:31 AM August 9th & 10th, Little Naches, WA.
We are going to use the camp area Tankota mentioned (thanks). Its huge, plenty of space for campers, RV's, trailers whatever. There are vault toilets, but no running water.
Go up Forest Rd 19 (aka Little Naches Rd) a couple miles, and take a left across the bridge on Rd 1902 (Crow Creek Rd). You go a short ways and come to a Y intersection, keep going straight on to RD 1920 (Fife's Ridge Rd). About 100 yds up Rd 1920 there will be a left turn into the camp area. It is not marked, and it is just past a curve to the left, so don't miss it. Look for the PBB Tour WA signs (paper plates :D) and the orange/red Scout (thats me).
Forest Rd 19 is about 3 miles northwest of the town of Cliffdell, WA, off of HWY 410. If you need better directions, use mapquest (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp) to find Cliffdell, and then go 3 miles northwest. :D
We'll use CB channel 24. The trail run will depart the camp area at 9:00 AM Friday and Saturday.
Vehicle Requirements: At least 1 locker, at least 33" tires, expect body damage, and accept it without whining.
Everyone who is planning to attend, please post on this thread with your name and what kind of rig so I can get a headcount.

They are made up of dirt and rocks, and they take you from one point to another.
We'll run 676 (kaner) to 306 (manashtash Ridge) to 308 (shoestring) to 307 (tripod flat) on Friday. They are all rated 'More Difficult', lots of tight trees, a few hillclimbs, very little sidehilling, and a rock garden section where you can pick your line to make it as hard or easy as you want it. Your jeep would have no problem.
Tankota 07-25-2002, 10:21 AM I would recommend camping at the far end of the campground (as far away from the entrance as possible). The dust (and noise) of vehicles and trailers coming and going can get pretty bad if you camp near the entrance. Also, at the far end you are right next to the river.:) (good for those of you who don't bring showers:D )

I'm not worried about the rig fitting. At "87 it will fit tightly I just don't want to be labled as a tree killer.:(
Don't know if I can go or not. I will have to get back.
P.O.S. 1970 Scout with at least one locker and at least 33 in tires.;)

Paul Gagnon 07-25-2002, 10:14 PM I'm still not sure if I'm going to make it. If I get my junk fixed I'll be in my Explorer. If not I might drive down in the F250 and ride along if someone has an empty seat.

I just got my junk back after a stolen recovery, so I have some work to do before I can wheel. Maybe Paul G and I can convoy...
Cheers

Maybe next time. If anyone wants to head over the TSF and check it out on Sunday after the run there'll be stuff happening.

Scoutaholic 08-08-2002, 01:02 PM Just need to trailer up and I'm outa here.:) Should be in camp be 6:00PM or so.:D
HighHooder 08-08-2002, 02:38 PM I'm out, I thought that I'd be able to finagle some wheels and tires but failed.
Paul Gagnon 08-11-2002, 01:34 PM I'll be doing a writeup on this trip shortly, it should be plenty interesting. To those who actually showed up it was great to meet you. For all the chickins :crybaby: who stayed home... :flipoff2:
Scoutaholic 08-11-2002, 01:39 PM Hey Paul, had some more action after you guys left. Don't do the hole writeup until you chat with the other guys that have pictures and such.
MoonDog 08-12-2002, 12:33 AM Paul, I PMed you with some info and a link to some pics.
It was great to meet you all, Ben, Mike, Dale, JP, Paul, (and anyone else I may have forgotten because I'm horrible with names) thanks for putting up with a foolish green wheeler, Terry and Jay thanks for saving my ass right and left, I owe ya a
tiessen 08-12-2002, 07:05 AM Thanks again everyone for helping me get off the trail! I had 'fun', we'll have to do this again soon.
Cheers
Dale
ps. We got home fine, but my carrier is pretty chewed up. Detroit's coming.
Ben W 08-12-2002, 10:04 AM Glad everyone made it home ok. It was a good time, those of you who didn't show up missed out. Just enough excitement to keep it interesting.
XtrmTJ 08-12-2002, 01:30 PM Thanks Ben ! GREAT Wheeling ! GREAT People ! GREAT Fun ! Nice meeting everyone ! Rick, NICE rig ! Mike, Nice flop ! Moondog, NICE 1 1/2 ganer with a 1/2 twist, I gave you a 9 ! Jay, Parts man (thanks!) you will need to fix a few of Ben's shocks ? And then there were the Canadians........... Dale, JP, and Paul. Whom, without, we would not have had a almost 24 hour ,all day and all night marathon wheeling trip- from hell. You thot I wasnt gonna say anything ? Wheeling a stationwagon, carring every spare part known to man,(execpt the one they needed?), even a refrigerator! But, when all was said and done, We, (Team USA) got them off the mountain ! The ending tally for two (2) days of wheeling, ... ONE axle,(Canadians), ONE windshield,(Scout), One TRE, (Toyota), TWO shocks,(Scout), and TWO rolled Toyotas. Hey Jay, us JEEPS came threw unscaved !

Scoutaholic 08-12-2002, 06:00 PM Had a great time this trip. Everyone was great and easy to get along with. Eager to help. The trails were a blast and I learned a bit of a lesson- Use extra caution when following a flat fender through tight trees. Ah well, it was just a windshield and frame.
Tracy/ Ben, it was great fun playing on the rocks with you guys Sat. The 24 hr marathon run was a bit of a stretch but we survived it. Gota leave that one for the writeup.
Hey anyone know how many Canucs it takes to pack a broke explorer out of the woods he he?
Answer- 3 eh.:D
Jeepdude_Jay 08-12-2002, 08:36 PM Well, I got up Sun morn and went to the doctor to get a peice of metal out of my eye. It was in there long enough to rust. He had to use a small GRINDER to get most of the rust off. There's still some left I will have to go back in for. That's what I get for burning the midnight oil wrenching on the Jeep everynight for 2 weeks getting ready for this trip.
I did have a super time though and got to meet some great people. Hope to do it again sometime, eh.
XtrmTJ 08-12-2002, 09:25 PM Now that is the definition of a "Wheeler" ! Puts off going to the Doc, just to go wheeling with his freinds ! to you Jay ! Hope you are better now ! :D
Paul Gagnon 08-12-2002, 11:42 PM At least we finished the trail in daylight. :D:laughing::laughing:
