However, hikers with illegal campfires in the Tahoe Basin sparked off last year's Angora fire that burned more than 3000 acres, destroyed 242 homes, and burned 67 commercial structures. More than two thousand firefighters battled the blaze, spending more than 12 million dollars to fight the fire, with untolld millions of lingering access.
