Im in the market for a nice little LED flashlight thats hardy enough to stand the abuse I tend to put tools through. I've been looking at the Surefire A2 but im having a hard time justifying spending $200 on a flashlight. Any other manufactures I should consider with something similar to the A2?

I love my G2 LED and whatever the same sized metal light is. I also love my E2E. I don't think you can go wrong with the Surefires, especially since they fix any problems you have. They have sent me new batteries for free, new tailcaps, and new bulbs.

i have a molle light from pete and it's nice but it's probably not bright enough to cross shop with an a2. if it's just for around the camp or whatever, theb it's cool. it doesn't have much distanct (which is expected). but, it's way cheaper...

I've got a little Streamlight Nano and a Streamlight TLR-1 for the pistol. Even the little nano which only cost me $6 and uses 3 watch batteries is pretty damn bright for such a small light (10 lumen). The TLR is really bright at 80 lumen.

I'm planning on picking up another Streamlight flashlight but haven't decided which one to go yet. The prices vary quite a bit depending on aluminum vs plastic and battery size and quantity. It's just a matter of finding a god compromise of long battery life vs brightness.

I just picked up a G2 today and have a 6P also. I like the 6P better.

Streamlight has "similar" Incan/LED lights, but they in no way compare to the A2. The A2 is rare even if it was only an incan light as the bulb is regulated and will not dim through the batteries life.

The g2's are bad *** and now come with an aluminum bezel. They also last a LOT longer than the 6p's. Look around, you can find the g2's cheap.

G2 + Chinese Import LED = fricken awesome. I have 3 of them and a a 6P. Works awesome and freaking cheap, last forever too.

G2 is cheap enough to have multiple.

I've had three differnt fenix lights and they are awesome. Tough as nails and bright beyond belief. The one I carry every day is the P2D for its compact size. I like having several brightness settings so I can use a battery saving mode for long jobs, or crank it up to a zillion for blinding people.

I like my g2, and my a2 was great till someone stole it.

For general use though I found 12 LED lights that run on 3 AAAs for $2.50/ea at advance auto. Yes they break every now and then, but for 2.50 with the batteries I use them till they die or break and toss them. I keep 2 of them anywhere that I really need them, that way I have a spare ready.

Are there any lights, similar to the G2 LED, that run on AA batteries? I'm looking for a light that will fit in a standard size weapon light mount. Keeping one common battery for the light and EoTech 512 would same some storage issues.

I second the Fenix brand. I have a T1 it is plenty bright in 60 lumen mode, but kick it up to 220 lumens and then you have a light. Batterys seem to last alright as well.

For comparison I also have a Surefire 6P. It has been relegated to second place since the Fenix was bought.

If you browse the site they have numerous models.
