What, if anything, have you done to the cover on your 14 bolt? Is it nessecary, or does the stock one hold up?

the stock cover is pretty stout if any thing i would strap it were it protrudes as a slider

the little bit that hangs down at the bottom should be trimmed to keep it from being peeled back by a rock.( and pleeze everybody, just say NO to the chrome covers!)

I cut about an inch off the bottom of my 14 bolt right to the lowest bolt hole. I did the same with the cover. Today I ripped the bolt out and peeled back the cover a bit to cause a leak. Soooooo, I am going to just cut a curved shape of 3/8" and drill it in the shape of the cover for the bottom 5 bolts and just bolt it there for extra stength. Otherwise, the cover is tough.

I recently bought a new dif cover and truss for my 12 Bolt rearend. I bought my parts from Steve Frisbie (http://www.mooffroadoutfitters.rockcrawler.com) and they are very beefy. He also makes a dif cover for the 14 bolt rearend, made from 1/4" steel and makes a truss system for this axle as well. Check out the link above.

well i thought the stock one looked a little wimpy so i just started welding steel to it. i cut out some pieces to cover the spots i wanted. started welding and then heating the plates with the torch and forming ot to the cover. it worked out nice, was cheap, and it works.
