So I know that I am a newbie and all, but I am working on a rear disc conversion on my small bearing 9" rear and need to know which discs to go with. Do I use the late 70's F-150 front disc from a 2WD or 4WD? I have also heard of Jeep discs being used in th back as well. I will be using the A&A manuf. weld on brackets but in order to have those brackets welded in the right spot I need to have the rotors on the truck and hit them with air to center them and then do the weld... right? I know there is a lot of you that have done this already but I need assistance.

i`ll be using the pre 84` caddy calipers and 83`ish wrangler front rotors for my 9"disc conversion.

If you use the smaller metric caliper get the jeep rotor. It is a thinner rotor which fits. The ford rotors I used were pretty wore out and I had to turn them down quite a bit to make them fit. While I had it on the brake lathe I cleaned the in side of the rotor so it slips on and off nicely. I also used 610-290 Dorman wheel studs in the 9". Works great to center the rotor.

Here is a write-up that lays out the caliper situation pretty well.
