Okay I need to know if, and maybe make it fit

Will a XJ gear box fit a 99 TJ and will a 2003 gear box fit a 99 tj. i am looking to buy one of them on monday and i need to know.

Anyone??????????

If you're doing it today, take a crap load of digi pix with your phone and measurements all over. Better, take the old box with you.

I am having it shipped in. all I can say if it does not work, fab time.

the 03 and up box is a mercedes box. its usually pricey. most people think its no better that the older style one. i thought the bolt pattern was different, but i could be wrong. some people use a dakota/durango box. has slightly tighter ratio. direct bolt on swap. i have heard of people using full size waggy boxes too(not direct swap). google tj steering box upgrade, there are endless posts and opinions. if you have big tires and a front locker look into a redneck ram from west texas offroad.

03 up TJ/LJ boxes are different. It won't fit w/out a little fab work to the frame or welding a tab to the 02 down box. Down fall to the 03 up boxes is the lack of aftermarket support and IIRC the sector shaft on the 03 up box is weaker.
