Anyone know the size of the socket for a rear D60 to get the nut off so I can repack the bearings and do the brakes.

I just went to the auto part store and asked for a rear hub socket for the type of truck with a D60 and they handed me a stamped socket that works great.

2 & 9/16 I belive... but can't say I'm 100% sure on that

I tried the auto parts clerk, all I got was that deer in the headlights look from the idiot. I'll try 2&9/ and see what happens.

i'm trying to figure this out myself, best i can tell is that its a 2 5/16 on my FF doge D60 rear. but i can't find a socket that big so i don't know for sure. anyone know what size it is and where to get one?

Mr. Easy...the nice clean one from a 30 spline, 1.31 axled FF 60....measured 2 3/8" on my end of Ohio. I've pulled apsrt three here and they all used that socket...from NAPA.:smokin:

A 2&9 should be for a 70.

What year, make and model was the 60 from?

My 60HD specs a 2.5" socket, but when I measured the nut, it was 2 9/16"

2-3/8", 2-1/2", and 2-9/16" are all common sockets for D60s

Mine ended up being a 2&9/.

Both my 60 and 70 FF rears where 2-9/16", but not regular hex 2-9/16", rather "Dana rounded corner 2-9/16"

Need to buy the socket designed for the axle, not because it is a weird size or anything, but because a normal socket won't fit between the hub and the nut. It will be a painted stamped steel socket. It's cheaper than a quality 3/4"drive socket of the same size. You can use a regular socket, but you have to grind the shit out of it.

If you go to a good parts store, tell them what axle it is, they will supply you with the correct socket. I bought mine from Dodge dealership a couple years ago for about $20, and they might just loan you one.
