what is normal oil pressure for a 2001 p/u withh a 305 engine , My dad had the oil changed in his p/u and the oil pressure has changed from 30-40 at idle to over 50 psi

did they put heavier oil in it? like maybe 20/50 weight?

i don't know for sure about the newer small blocks but the older ones,(70's and 80's) run around 20 to 40 at normal operating temp.
i don't think 50 psi will kill anything.
i don't think it matters, but maybe check the oil filter and see if it is the proper one for the motor.
