For those that have done it how do you like it in your trail based cruiser? Very curious and might pull the 350 in favor of this engine....

I'm just starting to swap out my stock 2f from my 1980 FJ40 and drop in a 4.3 vortec. I've been searching for info. as well and have not come across much. Some have mentioned giving up weight on the front end but I don't think it will be a big deal.
I'm still deciding on what tranny to go with. The 4.3 is currently in a 97 gmc sonoma with the 4l60e and all of the wiring so that is probably what I will choose.
I'm hoping to keep the stock transfer case, axles, and gears.
Not going for extreme duty but something that works well for all-around driving.
I'll post more details and pics as I do stuff.
