you dont need it....i took mine off, looks cooler, allows the disc to cool better and also is easier to clean without!!

too easy ;)

yes i do :D know why? because i already did one hub, and what i did, was cut off the majority of the plate Except where the brake line mounts to the backing plate :D and for spacing reasons (i think the part where the plate is mounted may make a difference)

so i did think of taking it off, but i already have one hub done and assembled.

(btw, i still need one!)

I got both sides, great shape from a mini truck. I went with studs for the spindle and left off the shield and outer seal. e-mail me (msmythe@iei.net) before 10 am Thursday if you want them NOW. Make a reasonable offer. Otherwise I'll be back Sunday late and can ship Monday.

nah....but the difference is i ran the flexi line right to the caliper...spacing can be off by a small bit and doesnt seem to affect my pad contact........

my pads are new though...just buy the minitruck ones, they even have little vents on them!!

The spacing isn't effected. The spindle still goes on the knuckle first, and the wheel bearing set the hub and rotors position. The outer seal wont sit in the same position, and for that matter won't install with out mods over the spindle, do to the centering boss on it. The problem is the bolts will be too long if you leave these parts out, and if you put the long ones in and tighten you'll rip the threads out.
