are the tracker sidekick gears all 5.13s?
can I go to the local Junk yard and get two stock rear tracker rearends put a locker in or weld the spiders in the rear and bolt them into the sammi rearend as thirds? Is it that simple?

Im wondering about this because my grandfather wants to run some 31 TSLS chop fenders and do some light wheelin with me. I know were I can get tracker rearends cheap.

What you need to get is two front third members from a Tracker/sidekick. Usually the auto's were 4.62's and the Manuals were 5.13's. But there were some, I guess you could say, Odd ball gear sizes out there so I would be best to check the teeth count before you did anything else.

Then one of the chunks will bolt right into the front with no problems, at least I didn't have any. Because the sidekick thirds are aluminum I've heard then tend to break more often but I've heard that they hold up too.

For the rear you are going to need to actually swap the gears over to the zuk case. I think you could swap the carrier over to the Sidekick case if you wanted to but then there is that whole aluminum thing again. The side gears in the Tracker carrier are ment for the smaller axle shafts of the front axle and won't fit the rear shafts.

You'll need a can to fit over the carrier to keep the carrier pins from falling out with the new ring gear, and you might need a little spacer to get the backlash set right. Spidertrax sells a kit, and they helped me out a lot when I called with questions.

Good luck, Mine didn't go as easy as people say it should but I usually screw stuff up the first time anyway.

If he's not going to play in the rocks, the aluminum case will probably be alright for the front. I would recomend switching to the Samurai case for the rear, tho. ;)

If you find a few sets, I'm looking for 5.13's.
