: Fordyce Bypass pics?
welndmn 10-13-2001, 04:20 PM I heard that 3 large rocks were winched down into Fordyce today @ the Cal4wheel Meeting, and that some jerk cut down a large bunch of tree to make a bypass to go around it, we are trying to get the rocks moved but would like a pic of it to see what were dealing with first,
Thanks!!! also if you know who did it, they said they already busted a Yoda up there for a similer thing up there
ToyFamily 10-13-2001, 07:52 PM At what part where these rocks at?
Brandon 10-13-2001, 08:15 PM Don't know but some people seem to think it is better to send a crew up there and take pictures to put in a newspaper rather than to fix the bypass so I want to see this bypass and see why someone would make it - rather than go over these 3 rocks that were supposedly winched in, or remove them...
Personally I don't see the need to show bad things wheelers have done, just fix it! Supposedly they got the chainsaw out and blazed a new trail to get around these rocks - someone has to have seen them???
JIM3030 10-13-2001, 09:11 PM I think you should be more worried about the people putting them there. than the ones going around

WRONG! People Blazing bypass trails is what gets trails closed!
Brandon 10-13-2001, 09:26 PM exactly, if you can't go through the trail turn around - or move them! BLAZING TRAILS IS NOT OK
JIM3030 10-14-2001, 08:41 AM and pulling rocks down from canyon walls is no different <IMG SRC="smilies/flipoff.gif" border="0"> the harder the better. but f#$king with the trail like that will get us all booted too!
Brandon 10-14-2001, 08:55 AM which is exactly why we are trying to track the people down. It is much easier to move a rock than regrow the trees that were cut down and trampled though..
Nobody has seen this on the trail??
Dan-H 10-14-2001, 11:44 AM Mark,
I'm not saying its not true, but no-one *knows* if it is or isn't true so can you, trace this back. Ask whoever you heard it from to ask who they heard it from etc and find out some facts?
like where on the trail this is and when it was noticed.
if we know where it is, I'm sure a small group can go block the bypass fairly quickly.
Brandon 10-14-2001, 12:49 PM Me and Mark were at the cal4wheel meeting and several groups said they had to take the bypass that was blazed which to me is worse than the guy pulling the rocks down - they said it is past the river crossing where you can head back up to 80 without going to Meadow Lake but that is all I know..
Kendo 10-14-2001, 12:56 PM Well. I was there on the 7th and 8th of this month (last Sun/Mon) and I saw no rocks or cut down trees. We bailed at the fourth river crossing out to Fordyce Lake. Here is a pic of me goin up the last little neat section before you start heading uphill. That's the only place where I cna imagine someone making a bypass and it looked "normal" to me.

Brandon 10-14-2001, 01:13 PM It is supposed to be past that part from what I understood - more toward meadow lake
RealJeepMan 10-14-2001, 01:36 PM My club is going up on Fri. I will let you all know. And if we can pull the rocks out of the trail we will.
Brandon 10-14-2001, 01:49 PM more concerned with blocking the bypass if possible..
Thanks!
FeCamel 10-14-2001, 02:31 PM We were up there all day on the 13th. We went all they way through to Meadow Lake. I didn't see anything that looked like rocks winched into the trail, a cut tree, or bypass. Granted, I'm not terribly familiar with the trail, but something that fresh should have been obvious. Where was it supposed to have been?
Cable Guy 10-14-2001, 09:04 PM I was on the Fordyce this and last weekend. The only new rocks I saw were at the top of winch hill 2 (the one in the pics that ToyFamily posted)
