: Rubber, poly or Heims ?

What do you use for the links ?
Stock rubber bushes are not the real option, poly should be ok, but how about heim joints ?
I thought of throwing out the stock rubber bushes and use heims in the stock links (I'm limited to the stock links to be street legal) with beefed up frame montings.
Links would be the rear 4 link and panhard as well as the upper & lower control arms of the front IFS (1st. gen. Pathfinder). Only thing that comes to my mind is the compression rod from the lower control arm to the frame, can I use a heim joint here ?
Feed me with your input please.

What do you plan on doing with it? One problem with the fist gen pathy's is the compression rod mount. I've seen them bent, cracked.. ect. Aslo, the control arms will have to be replaced if you want to lift it at all Due to camber correction.

Also, the rear stock bushings in a first gen are pretty good. Mine were still alive at 400,000KM.

Plans are Rallye Raid stuff like marathon desert races in northern Africa.
Upper control arms will be aftermarket, i.e. Fabtech or Automotive Customizers.
Lifting isn't that important since I'll do the go fast stuff anyway. I planned a max 2" suspension lift together with a 2" body lift, that and the use of my preferred tool (the BFH and plasma cutter) gives me enough room for 265/75R16 which equals a 32" tire.
The compression rod mount on the frame would be replaced by a different design anyway to take the heim joint.
All I want is to get the best out of the limited possibilities of the stock design without spending to much dineros and keep it street legal.

I'd look at this for your front suspension.

Rear is pretty easy, pan hard drop, aftermarked coils.

I see TC is using polys for the UCA, what's against heims there too ?
As I plan to keep it 4WD I cannot just put in the TC kit.
The rear is easy, I'm just not sure what to use, poly or heims ?

heims, heims, heims.

with the plans you have, bushings won't hold up and are a PITA to change compared to a heim. do it right the first time so you don't have to go back and redo it later.
