: Mix-matched axle widths?

Really dumb question, I know, but how bad would it be to have different width axles. For example, say your rear was 67.5" but your front was 69.5"?

Thanks,

That is not an issue. In fact, most OEM specs are similar. Theory was that a narrower rear made for better turning. Those specs you mention sound like stock GM to me.

FWIW - my personal rig is 69.5 front and 67 rear.

Very common. You see it alot in pickups. I run a 61-62" waggy in the front and 58" in the rear. Turns and tracks fine.

The theory I have head from an old dirt track racer is that with a narrower rear the rear has to come out of line further before it comes around and spins out. So he always made the front wider. Plus if you can get the front through you know the rear will fit.

Chevy Blazers had a wider front than the rear my 71 K5 did, no issues.
