Are Warn Premium hubs supposed to be greased on the outside lock in area. Please help asap. The Hub can be unlocked without the dial on but when the dial is put on and locked it will not unlock. It is a 73 Bronco with a wildhorses disc conversion. We were replacing the u-joints and relized there was no grease so we put some in. Was this a mistake???
They should have some grease. But not gobs of it. Enough to assist in the movement of the assambly. If you are having a hard time unlocking the hubs, as in it will not pop out of 4wd after backing up a few feet, then you will want to look at the internal hub assambly. Check the spring and make shure the c-clips are all in place. Also, grease the internal hub assambly with bearing grease. Check the teeth on the stub shaft connect cog. Its the one that slides over the axle shaft and engages *sp?* the locking hub assambly. If these become worn from improper install or hard use, then your rig my not want to pop out of 4wd.

Don't use grease. It's 'supposed' to be sealed and you want the hub's free to work. Clean them up and coat them with some 30wt. NOT soaked in it. I've had them stick before and they looked like some idiot thought they were bearings and packed them with bearing grease.
