: Dana 60 Stub Endplay - how much is OK?

I'm troubleshooting a noise from my front hubs and one potential culprit is stub shaft endplay due to the design of these hubs.

How much axial endplay should there be in the stub shaft?

Custom 60, 1.5" 35spl inner and outer, Dynaloc hubs.

Setup worked fine for years with Warn premium hubs, but when I installed the Dynalocs, I get the teeth of the two halves occassionally grinding. Upon inspection, I think it _may_ be due to too much axial endplay in the shaft, but I don't know what's "normal".

Thanks

stupid thought, but when you installed the new hubs did you forget the spacer that goes on the stub shaft?

Good suggestion, but it's in there. I'm curious about the thrust washer (#58 on the bible's exploded drawing), but haven't torn it apart yet to see if it's there or worn.

I have ~0.2" of axial play in my stub axle. When it's in the outer position, the hub halves are fine. When it's in the inner position, that's when _I think_ I'm getting the grinding of the two halves.

Is that excessive play or is it normal?
