I have a 1988 Comanche with a 2.5liter throttle body injected 4 banger that I would like to convert to propane. Has anybody done this to this engine and know were to get a kit. Also do you know if this will work with the computer system? I am new to propane and no one in my area has done a conversion yet so little is known about it in my offroading community.

If you have injection why use propane ? . gas is lots of $$$$$$$$ now days but your fuel delivery system works great at all angles.

Propane is more then Gas if you buy it at a gas station which is your only option when on a trip. Plus you will use about 20% more of it.

The affordable propane dealers are only open M-f 9-5, you have to wait for a guy to fill your tank.

no place fills after dark, you have to beg.

If filling propane tanks will be easy for your then I say do it, less electronics to deal with. But Im about to buy back into the EFI mess cuase the hassel and cost to fill up LPG tanks. Carying 4 10 gallon tanks 160#s of fuel is kinda rediculious for a long weekend trip.

Now, I'm not into the super-extreme stuff but I've never seen anywhere where EFI hasn't gotten the job done. A little enginuity with the fuel pickup in the tank and you're good to go. On top of that, your engine loses a good amount of power on propane. I personally thing propane is just another fad that will pass when people get more comfortable with fuel injection...

Just looking into it for something else to mess with. Propane is easy for me to get, I have a place a couple of blocks from me and he is cheap to refill tanks. Plus I have a few forklift tanks at work for no cost.
Also I have not set this in stone that I will be doing it. I have read about the ups and down of it I just want to know if anyone is offering a kit for this application. Plus I like being Green.

take a look at this system. I am seriously considering running this on my 4.3. I have to spend money anyway on a harness and computer, might spend it on this instead.

Those that have had a bad experience with propane don't run our kit. Ashman, that's just how it works in Arizona, it varies from state to state, county to county on propane prices and filling station rules. I always tell my customers to call their local propane supplier to find out price of fuel etc...
Oh, it's not just a fad, people sometimes want to finish a project and use it.

Thanks, I would have to spend money on a fuel cell and electric pump fuel lines and all that jazz anyway so that is why I am thinking about the swap. By the time I spend to do all that It will only cost a little more to convert it to propane.

Propane I will probably be talking to you in the near future to get a little more info on the kit. So be prepared.:D
