'88 mustang didn't have a MAF sensor, It used a MAP sensor. I think they went to MAF in '91. We put one in a 4 Runner, what a riot!

MAF started in '89, actually. My '90 has it. As for the electrical hookup, this might help:

I have a '89 out of a GT. I love it.

I found if you mimic the donor car as close as possible you should have less problems. I did not do all the wiring on mine but I can tell you it is a great conversion <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> Good luck and send pics when done.

Brandon,

I lost all of my diagrams that my buddy made when he helped me and I live in another state now. Could i get my hands on the diagrams? I wanted to have some in case I wanted to do another conversion in another vehicle. The only problems that I have is that I did not hook up the A/C sensors. I just converted it to an air compressor. It gives me four codes for the A/C.

Thanks, Tony

California Mustangs did, the rest went Mass air in '89.

this may sound like a stupid question but would the wiring be the same for a cobra engine in the sames yr. ie 88-93

I swapped a 90 5.0 into my YJ.
Its a great off road motor.
They run cool, stay well oiled at low RPMs and on steep angle, and can run upside down.
Plenty of low end and high end, and they even get good off road mileage if you stay off the noisy pedal, except when you need it.
Like Brandon said, once you know which wires are what, its just a matter of hooking up a couple of hots, a couple dedicated grounds, and your guages, then start it up.
Good luck

AND, if you really want the easy route (and new wiring). Buy the FRPP sefi conversion harness for $200, with the easy to follow instructions. It's a 93 Mustang harness with the un-needed wiring removed.

I've got 2 89 EFI 302s out of trucks, anyone know where the 5-6 wires go? I forget it's been a few years since I took them out.

This is where I bought mine.. (http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?Style=&Sku=FPS1213688E&itemtype=B&mscsid=P3SVUFNK70FH9G16BF63M2GCCBN6ER81)

If you wanna come see it no prob but I am sorry they are full size plans and I don't have the time to copy n send em out..

I have my notes I will try n scan sometime for you though - but I suggest that wiring diagram. I bought all the manuals from that place, the other $40 electrical one is good too but the $12 diagrams are full size and complete..

Wiring is the same, Cobras had different computers, injectors, and MAF, but the wiring harness is the same.
