: Toy Tranny and 1.3 Questions
punkskalar 07-25-2002, 12:00 PM Alright, I have searched my brains out, and have read all I would ever need to know about putting in a Toy Tranny behind a 1.6, but can't find any information about putting it behind a 1.3...
I have a G52 rebuilt and sitting in the Garage, as well as a Toy T-case, which would alse be sweet to do a dual setup and not have to run an intermediate shaft... I could always do dual divorced cases, but Id like a stronger tranny if possible... Does anyone make an adapter to do this:confused:? Any links would be a help, thanks...
Hugh
poppycock 07-25-2002, 12:28 PM kerry wittig makes an adaptor that lets you bolt a 1.6 bellhousing to you 1.3 engine for $50. then you need his other adaptor that lets you bolt your 1.6 bellhousing to your toyota tranny. that sucker is about $400 but worth every penny. i'd go with a married setup. installing it is a piece of cake.
punkskalar 07-25-2002, 12:34 PM Any Links or Pics... For that kinda cash, I might just go divorced, since I don't have a 1.6 Bellhousing sitting around... But then again, Getting a shaft made and Buying/Possibly Building a divorced adapter probably run me the same Green eh? Thanks Poppycock... Hows your rig coming? Mines in 1 million pieces, but im only keeping about 5...
poppycock 07-25-2002, 12:38 PM the link in my sig has some pics of the the whole thing assmbled. theres also some of it installed in the truck. i bolted it to a 1.6 eng. bellhousings are cheap and so are toyota tcases.
punkskalar 07-25-2002, 12:51 PM Looks Good... Something to think about... I definitely like the married setup so much better, less to go wrong... So the Bellhousing adapter to 1.3 is About $400 and The 1.6 Bellhousing to Toy Tranny Adapter is about 50.... Thats not bad at all... Thanks man...
0ILBURNER 07-25-2002, 02:44 PM I saw Kerry's setup at ZookiMelt a couple a weeks ago - pretty snazzy
If I were starting from scratch, that'd be the direction I'd go.
poppycock 07-25-2002, 03:05 PM i'm guessing the klune route wasn't a bad way to go either :D

I went with the Klune because of 2 things:
A. For my diesel set-up & the R&P gears I had, the Klune was the best choice (so I wouldn't have to make a bunch of change$)
B. I ran into a 'special situation' that allowed me to get a good deal on the Klune box.
I was planning on going back to 4.1 gears & making an adapter for my diesel to use the Toy tranny & dual cases, when I got the deal on the Klune.
Like I said, if I were starting from scratch & were planning on stretching my wheelbase, I would go with the Toy set-up.
But yeah, the Klune works :D

punkskalar 07-26-2002, 01:39 PM (in my best southern accent) Why thats purtier than a 5 toothed blond...
What a sweet looking adapter... Ill be going that way for sure when that time comes... Now ill just have to find a 1.6 Bellhousing... Can you use the stock clutch? Or do you need something custom?

Epyon_zuk 07-26-2002, 10:00 PM When you swap a Toy Tranny and T-case into a zuk do you have to do anything special with that cross member that is near the front driveshaft when using the stock T-cast?
incontrol 07-26-2002, 10:20 PM Here is the cross member that scwafish built for his.

Shawn_C 07-26-2002, 10:21 PM While your at all this toyota stuff why not forget spending all that on an adapter and go with a 22r motor and keep your tranny and x-fer maried and add a second case to the back. I think you would end up about the same length wise. If not shorter. + you would have a motor that has a bit more horse power and 22r parts are a dime a dozen.

i can think of about 300+ reasons :flipoff2:
fatkid 07-27-2002, 12:37 AM I Like the EFI 1.3L, It's light.
punkskalar 07-27-2002, 08:33 AM Yeah, the 1.3 will probably do for now, then All I gotta do is find a 1.6 and swap it in the future, which is soo much lighter and almost as powerful... Torque? Who needs it, gears will do the work with a heavier flywheel as well......
tdavis 07-27-2002, 01:06 PM Is there any difference between a 2wd 1.6 bell housing and a 4wd?
I just spotted a 1.6 in a local PnP (head is already missing) and it's still got the tranny, but it's a 2wd version..
poppycock 07-27-2002, 01:40 PM they are the same
