I'm in SoCal and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good shops in either the LA or San Diego (preferred) area. I'm looking for a shop that can analyze and/or upgrade my truck.
well if we knew what ya had it might help ;)
if it's a ford go to www.ford-diesel.com and look around abit, there's alot of the board sponsor's all over the country, i found a local shop by just reading a guy's sig line on there :)

I typo'd Dodge on the subject line, but that's what I have. I've looked at the Turbo Diesel Registry but didn't really find anything.

You didn't say what year your truck was... 90% of the stuff is bolt-on... if you can't find it on TDR, is probably dosen't exist!

2001 Dodge QuadCab Dually Diesel 4x4. I've found plenty of parts and websites but I was looking for an actual dealer local to LA or SD that somebody had some experience with.
I can look in the phone book but was hoping to hear from someone who has had a good experience with a shop that they can recommend.
I've been having problems with lack of power since I got the truck and I'm getting nowhere with the dealer, so I want to take it to a shop that can analyze and mod/repair it if necessary. I don't want to just throw parts at it, not until I get it running like it should stock, then I wouldn't mind some mods.

Find a Cummins dealer in your area. Cummins will do in and out of warranty repair service on the Dodge Ram Diesels. They should be able to help you out.

The dodge dealer just took it to the El Cajon Cummins dealer to have it dyno'd. I took it there before that and they won't do any warranty work or performance mods.... weird, maybe it's just that dealer that's like that.
The dyno came back at 64% of the rated engine HP and that is supposedly within Chrysler's spec for a 4x4. The tranny has a noticeable slip in it but they said that didn't show up. All I know is that it just doesn't pull that great at all and something's wrong.
soo its putting out a little less than 100 hp to the rear tires? something is really wrong and you should find another cummins dealer.

Try taking it to cummins yourself. NOT through the dealer have them dyno it and see what they say.

I can't remember but I thought it was 140something HP...
I've got a friend who works at another diesel place and he's gonna dyno it for me too. He says 80-85% to the rear wheels is good.
It's pretty frustrating cuz it's an expensive truck and I really like it. But.......... it just doesn't have the power that it should. I've already got 50k on it and I want to get it fixed before my warranty runs out. I'm gonna keep at them and maybe I'll just get them to lemon it and then I can get a new 2004 CrewCab... yeah right!

I did that originally and it turned out that their dyno was down, they plugged in and found that the fuel pump was below spec. I took the truck to a dealer and they replaced the pump but it's still pretty lackluster. I sometimes wonder if I'm just crazy because they keep telling me that nothing's wrong, but I know there must be. I've got 4.10's and at 60-65 on a slight incline (empty) I can have my foot all the way on the floor. I still think it might be tranny related but I don't know.
I'm gonna see what my friend with the dyno says and then maybe I'll take it to a different cummins dealer.
