ok how do you know it is empty?

did you remove the fill plug and stick your pinky finger down and felt nothing? then stick a piece of wire down to see if it ever gets wet?

did you remove the diff cover to find no oil at all?

how new is this axle on your rig?

who installed it?

do you have any miles on it yet?

can it be leaking out the vent tube?

well it happened yesterday when i was on my way to my buddies shop . i didn't check the oil. but i didn't think i had to( i now know otherwise). the rear end over heated, forcing the ring gear bolts out. one of the bolts got wedged in between the ring gear and carrier, when i was driving. (That made a huge clunk). i limped it in to his shop and removed the dif cover. less than 1/8 of a quart of gear oil came out. amazingly everything inside was ok. all i had to do was lock tight the bolts and put them back in the ring gear.

my buddy installed the arb/4:56 gears/superior c click eliminator shafts

probably has less than 250 miles on the rear end

no because I've changed it twice already... it has to be leaking somewhere i just don't know where.. unless someone stole the gear oil.

Another case of trusting someone else to fix your junk. Rule #1. Don't trust ANYONE when it comes to working on your trail rig!

How much gear oil was put in when you changed it?

You might also want to confirm that this axle isn't over heating due to installer error on the ARB, gears, etc. ARB vented?
