I was in Tellico recently and I saw a guy that had taken a CJ-5 frame, added Cherokee 2.8 V-6 motor and axles, had 1X1 square tubing "roll cage" , a plastic seat, and 35/12.50 bfgs
Total weight: 1300 lbs

That's what he told me anyway. He turned over once and it turned back over a lot easier than a Samurai.

Hell, a full bodied Samurai weighs less than 2000 lbs, there went your theory on things.

The guy may have been exaggerating a little, but seriously, it was nothing but two frame rails, about 20 lbs of tubing, and 1 seat. It had no dash, guages or even a floorboard.
He said he built it in about 2 weeks out of spare parts so that he had something to wheel while he was building a "real" rig.
