Need a place in the nevada desert to light off some fireworks that I need to get rid of..bought them in shurz nevada few years back and still have a huge amount of the good stuff

I had never been to moonrocks but just talked to someone who said probably not a good idea because there are homes near by and the last thing I need is to get caught again. Is there anywhere safe near moonrocks like down some old desert roads that is perfectly safe and know one will see? Reno is the closest place to where I live in cali so i dont want to have to drive too far. if anyone knows of a desert road off the freeway or anything please let me know. thanks

It's a bit north of Gerlach, NV. Maybe a bit further than you wanted to travel, but some new area to explore.

to the best of my knowledge all of the moonrocks area has restrictions on fireworks use. people go to blackrock... but I understand that its not legal there either. the only place I know of that is totally legit in northern nevada is at weber reservior outside of schurz. there is even a fireworks store in schurz so you can pick up some more stuff(a little on the expensive side but hey... they provide you a place to shoot them off and your supporting the indians) there. I hear that over in battle mountain they arelegal to use but i havent been there at night to find a place to shoot.

X3 thats where I go every year just before or during the Burning Man event. Also there's alot of great wheeling area around there to boot. Just make sure you have 6 to 10 ply tires for that area.

I would know, I am one of the nearby residents :D that are watching the area constantly... although I would never want to see it closed while it is being used responsibly. People in the local area here don't want any more government intrusion than is already present, in fact less would be better. My neighbors and I fear that if more people abuse the area that it will draw a government presence all by itself...

if i go to nevada ill only light them off in an area where they are legal. but i might stay in cali to light them off because my uncle owns hundreds of acres off of a beach along the coast where we always used to do it.
