Ive got an older IR 110 compressor, and the motor has seized. They have what I believe to be, the exact repalcement motor at Harbor Freight. 3/4H 1725 rpms, etc, etc.

My question: is there any benefit to going to more HP or faster RPMS? Would I then be pushing the air pump side of it out of its working range?

Id call marathon Electric(motor maker) or IR to ask, but obviously they are closed saturdays and of course i need air today.

There's not really that much of a point upgrading to a higher hp motor if you're just on 110. If the 1 hp is the same price as the 3/4 hp I'd go with the 1 hp though. I'm debating whether to purchase a 5 hp or a 7.5 hp 220v motor for a compressor and I think I will go with the 7.5 hp motor since I can turn more pump with it.

check AMPS, not hp.

check AMPS, not hp.

Especially on compressor motors!

Dont be a puss just cause it has a power cord going to it, repair it. Theres not that much to them, if you posses the ability to use an air tool you can install a new set of bearings.
