Well, I found a new spot. It's an old Emergency road that the town I live in built for egress incase the main road turns to shit in a snow storm. Well so far about 20 years has passed and the only ones to use the road have been dirtbikes and quads.
Well a friend of mine says; "I wonder if the emergency road is passable in this thing." (he was refering to my TJ)
So I say...:"Sure it is!"
We were only on the road, (which now looks like a dirtbike path) for about 30 feet and I had to stop, Disconnect the swaybar, Grab low range, and Air up the ARB's. This was going to be a tough one. I quickly look for the Warn device,(just incase) and tell him in a confident voice; "Heck yea! We can make it!"
(next I took a quick look for my cel phone) You never know I thought.
Ok so after looking at this first and rugged obstical, It's a very deep rain eroison crack. Not wide enough to completely get into. But deep! SO I decide to keep the right side tires on the top and let the left side go in and down. The jeep seems to side hill much better now that I lowered it 2 inches. Mind you there is more to the story, The top of the right side is only about 7" wide and then it drops off into oblivion. :eek: So tire placement of the right side is critical. I tell my Newbie shotgunner :"let me know if the tire is going to fall off."
He seemed to understand. So I continue. ;note; (4:89's are cool)
Ok so about 20 feet into the crack it is getting very very off camber. And All I hear from my shotgunner is :"It's going over!"
"It's gonna roll!" and "Oh my GOD we are dead!"
I laugh and keep on wheeling. A calm, "No not yet."
Well about 2 more feet past that point and flop. Right onto the cage on the driver's side. (passenger newbie says) "Now what? do we winch it?"
Once again, Laughter and I back up placing the jeep back on 4.
I pick a slighty different line and we go about another 20 feet.
Now it's ugly! Big time! Me-- "OH SHIT!"
Shotgunner--- "OH SHIIIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!"
Then it flops hard onto the cage, left side. I shut down, climb over my buddy, stepping on his stomach to get myself out. Then pull him out and we are both standing on the right side tires, Which are now level. A Jump to safety and around to the driver's side.
PUSH, push, push. cool, Now hold that while I get back in.
?????? he asked?
Hold it. I climb in and was able to drive it on the left 2 tires with him holding it up by the cage till the right side touched down.
He got back in and I crawl the rest!
Ok, so now you ask... that's only 2 how did you do 5?
I had sooo much fun, went back 3 more times and did the same thing each time. I cant seem to find the perfect line yet. But will keep trying.
