That's me, waiting on Lower 2 in Tellico. That was the 4th of July weekend.
I've got some pics, but I have it in the paint shop right now. I'm gonna take some pics when I get it back.

I heard the last big rock on Lower #2 has been broken off and it's not that tough anymore? True?

Actually, someone winched it out and it is still in the trail, just in a different place.
A lot of people had trouble there that day. The rock that was moved kept catching everyones diff and there was no way to go around it.
There was a Jeep in that place (thats what we are waiting on) that broke his frame, broke his front driveshaft, put a hole in his radiator, broke his steering box internally (they were steering it with an old piece of broken axle in his spokes) and he had no winch.
It's still pretty tough.

i think i know where you are talking about and if so i went to the left. it was kinda hairy though because once you cleared that rock you had to get back to the right right there at the stump. when coming back into the right it would put at a pretty good off camber. my buddy chris would have roled his sami doing it if it would not have been for the wall on the right hand side. he just layed into it. we then climbed up above him and pushed him back on all 4's

anyway i think your rig is sweet!!! what wheelbase are you running?

Good! :) That's what I like to hear. OILBURNER was there a month or so back, and described the trail just as you did.... changed, but still really tough. Some guy had told me that it had been "smoothed up" recently, I don't think he was on lower #2.

I swear one of these days I'm gonna do something just like that! YOur rig is kick ass man, love it. What kinda travel are ya getting outta that suspension? I see you've got coils in the rear, was just wondering what ya got lurking underneath that bitch!

It's 4 link in the rear and 3 link in the front. That was the only way to get a 115" wheelbase out of a 120" frame. The frame is stock, although heavily gussetted. The travel is limited to the length of the Rancho 5012s (13")
Other than that it has a 350 V-8 from a '93 Impala, turbo 400 and 205 case out of 1 ton Chevy and rockwells out of a Duece and a half military truck.
And it weighs in at a "svelte" 4500 lbs.

and then there was this time that i had to drive out from the first section of lower 2 in two wheel drive. that big mudhole was no problem. looked like the duke boys.:flipoff2:

With Rockwells and a zuk frame can you lift a tire? or does the frame twist instead?

I ran across a deal on rockwells and rice and cane tractor tires, bought them, but haven't used them 'cause I figured it would break something if I ever got bad out of shape!

I have the frame heavily gussetted wherever something is welded to it or attached in any way, plus I have an external rollcage that is attached to the frame in 8 places. And I have 4 crossmembers.
The suspension is 4 link front and 3 link rear and the coil springs are not mounted to the frame, they are free floating with a piece of tubing top and bottom to hold them in. That way, I feel there is less stress on the frame from the springs pushing and pulling. It's working so far, but I keep a close eye on it. :)
And yes, it will lift a tire if you get to the end of the limiting strap.
