I am at a loss. I got a detroit and 5.38's for my sixty front. I cant get the backlash to adjust out of it. The side with the short axle has all of the shims and the other has no shims now. But I cant put any more shims on the carrier because it won't fit down in the housing. Also I have tried shimming the race just below the pinion gear and the pinnion shaft itself. Just need help on how can this be fixed. It may have been covered before and I did search and didn't find any answers.

Sounds like a carrier break issue to me. What was the starting gear ratio, did you buy the correct 4.56+ carrier?

well I bought the gears and locker from the same place at the same time. I would have guessed that when I ordered the 5.38's and the detroit that they would have sent the right one but maybe I should call and find out.:shaking:

Yeah I called the company I ordered it from and gave them the part number on the box and it was for 4.56 and down. So the right one is on the way. Thanks for the help.
